This policy explains how Berkshire Cars and Commercials Ltd ("we", "us", "our") collects and uses your personal information, and the rights you have under UK data protection law (the UK GDPR and the Data Protection Act 2018). We are the "data controller" for the information described here.
Berkshire Cars and Commercials Ltd, 8 Fronds Park, Frouds Lane, Reading RG7 4LH. You can contact us on 0118 443 7824, by WhatsApp on 07411 193499, or by email at Info@berkshirevansandcars.co.uk.
We only collect what we need to answer your enquiry and, where relevant, to sell or source a vehicle for you. This typically includes your name, phone number, email address and the details you choose to include in a message to us (for example, the vehicle you're interested in or the vehicle you'd like to sell). We do not ask for payment card details through this website.
We use your information to respond to your enquiry, arrange viewings, provide quotes, source or sell a vehicle, and keep in touch about that transaction. Our lawful bases for doing this are your consent (when you contact us), the steps necessary to enter into or perform a contract with you, and our legitimate interest in running the dealership and responding to genuine enquiries. We do not sell your data, and we do not use it for unrelated marketing without your agreement.
Our enquiry form composes a message that is sent to us by email and/or WhatsApp using the details you enter. That means your message travels through your own email or WhatsApp app and our email or WhatsApp account. WhatsApp is provided by Meta; if you contact us that way, WhatsApp's own privacy terms also apply.
We use a small number of trusted providers to run our business, including our website host, our email provider, Auto Trader (where our stock is advertised) and, for eligible vehicles, the AA (for breakdown cover). These providers only process your information to provide their service to us. We may also share information where we are required to by law.
We keep enquiry information for as long as needed to deal with your enquiry and for a reasonable period afterwards, and we keep records relating to a vehicle sale for as long as required for legal, warranty, tax and accounting purposes. When we no longer need your information, we delete or securely dispose of it.
This website uses only the cookies and local storage needed to make the site work and to remember basic display preferences. We do not use advertising or cross-site tracking cookies. You can control or delete cookies in your browser settings at any time.
You have the right to ask us for a copy of the personal information we hold about you, to have it corrected or deleted, to object to or restrict how we use it, and to withdraw consent at any time. To exercise any of these rights, just contact us using the details above and we'll help. If you're not happy with how we've handled your data, you can complain to the Information Commissioner's Office (ICO) at ico.org.uk.
We may update this policy from time to time. The date at the top shows when it was last revised.
This is a general privacy notice provided in good faith. Before publishing, please confirm the details above match your actual data practices and, if you are registered with the ICO, add your registration number here.
